6 Ways To Decorate With Houseplants

We can’t say it enough, plants make a space come alive (literally)—a new flash of green is an instant fix for any design rut. In fact, we love plants so much that we designed all of our Morrow bedding in hues that will always look excellent next to them. Curious about how you can get in on these flora feels? Here’s six easy ways to bring more house plants into your home:

1. Big And Bold

A large, healthy plant will change the entire feel of a room for the better. Tried and true varieties like Fiddle Leaf Figs, Cacti, Philodendron, and Monstera love indoor light and can often grow to the height of a room. Just remember to anticipate root growth when choosing a pot. The more space to lay down roots, the greater chances for bold height and health.

    2. Hang ‘Em Up

Nothing creates enviable jungle-vibes like a cascade of green leaves from above. Invest in some beautiful hanging planters or place traditional “hanging” plants on top of high shelves, book cases or boudoirs. Just make sure you account for additional vine length—as hanging plants often have fast growth rates.

      3. “DIY” Pots

You don’t have to be good with clay to have a home filled with beautiful, one-of-a-kind homes for Think outside the pot — chances are your local thrift store will have unique vessels that your plants will love. Brass bowls, pewter vases, or even vintage cans and jars make excellent pots for all of your greenery.

        4. Air It Out

If you’ve been scarred by the sad-looking ficus in your office copy room and are thus looking for something a little less traditional, air plants might be your new favorite. Their delicate frosty appearance is sculpturesque and their maintenance level is basically none. Just soak their roots in water for 12 hours every two weeks and you’ll have a healthy collection of conversation starters.

          5. Branch Out

If you don’t have the time or energy to dedicate to potting, watering, and sun-bathing your new beauties, a quick way to bring green life into your space is through fronds or branches. Local flower shops or markets are guaranteed to sell seasonal branches; just cut them to size, sit them in a water-filled vase and you’re good to go. The best part is, these keep their color and freshness much longer than cut flowers.

            6. Faux-liage

You’ve tried and tried, but you can’t seem to turn your thumb from back to green. Fret not! Fill your space with plant-themed artwork, photography, or even wallpaper and you’ll be feelin’ the foliage in no-time. (Oh, and go ahead and sneak in an air purifier for full effect, we won’t tell.)
